Rebecca Belle Balser
Rebecca made it to our family! She was born on her due date April 5, at 1:44 pm. She weighed 7 lbs 2 oz and is 20.5 inches long. We came home from the hospital on Sunday afternoon and she is doing really well.
And this is what we found when we got home from the hospital.

Baby Showers
I have been so blessed and so spoiled by friends and family in preparation for our sweet little Rebecca to be born!
Some of my friends from my ward hosted a beautiful baby shower, and it was so fun to visit with everyone and be taken care of even while we miss our family so much.
I have also received many gifts from family that have come in the mail including this blanket made by Mike's mom. Thank you so much everyone for your love and helping us get ready for this special time!

The next week some teachers from work also hosted a shower. Everyone gave me their favorite picture book and one teacher made a basket of books from all of my students.

Spring Break
Nashville, IN
So the extent of our vacation over spring break involved going to Nashville, IN to enjoy a delicious breakfast and wandering around the small tourist shops. It was a beautiful day topped off with a picnic in Columbus and finding all three of the Kilkenny trilogy (Louis L'Amour) at a used bookstore on a lucky whim.
To finish off the week of snow over spring break we hosted the first annual Balser chocolate chip cookie-a-thon. We baked about 14 dozen cookies of 6 different recipes and hosted a vote for the best recipe. We had eight families from our ward come join us for the event. Here are just a few of the highlights.

Christmas 2012
Mike and I had a wonderful Christmas break together, though we missed family tremendously. My post about the half-inch of snow we received the day before the break started was a little premature-we received 14 in. of snow over a two day time period just a few days after Christmas. It was a good time to stay inside with hot chocolate, movies, and projects.
Christmas Eve we had a big dinner and invited friends from the ward over
Christmas morning we were spoiled with packages under the tree and the beautiful new stocking Mike bought for me.
And while we were snowed in watching movies, here were a couple of my projects - Cleaning the office/Becca's room, making curtains, and making a baby blanket.
